We are what we are and we are Second JaR
JT and Richie go back further than the music does. School mates who formed a band as teenagers — ambitious, unlike anything else around, and, at the time, thoroughly misunderstood. Life then did what life does: twenty years apart, two different paths, but both of them never really left the music industry, just orbited it from different sides.
The pandemic brought them back together, and Second JaR is what came out the other side — the same chemistry, now mature, polished, and epic in a way that only comes from actually living the years in between.
Richie is the heart, the soul, and the rock & roll — the one who keeps the sound live, human, and real. JT is the electro-maestro, producing and arranging behind the scenes to pull the emotion out of a song and put it exactly where it needs to be. Together they land somewhere genre labels can't quite pin down: guitar-driven and unmistakably real, but laced with crunchy synths and electronic edges that give every track its own atmosphere. It's eclectic by design — think the best instincts of Gen X music, the kind of record that sounds like you just unearthed a brilliant band from the 90s that somehow, impossibly, nobody told you about until now.
No pretence, no image, no fronts. This is two old friends doing it for the love of it — having fun, enjoying life, collaborating, and hoping whoever's listening enjoys it too. We are what we are, and we are Second JaR!
Ten records deep and counting. Flip through the crate below — drag down to move to the next record, up to bring the last one back, and left or right to turn a sleeve over and read about it.
Every lyric and sleeve note in one open book — pick a song from the index on the left to read it on the right.
Epic in scope, relentless in energy — yet every hook lands like it was placed there on purpose. Nothing about this is accidental.
Dana Whitfield
Ambitious, inventive, and never short of a big chorus — a band thinking as hard as it's feeling.
Static & Stereo
